MLB Trade Rumors lists Ernie Clement and Nathan Lukes under "Others to Watch" among its offseason trade candidates. Clement slumped to a .182 average after the break, and an outfield logjam could squeeze Lukes. Speculation only, nothing is imminent. 🔄
Former Blue Jays lefty Ryan Borucki, 32, is now a free agent. He had a 4.94 ERA in 21 games with the Giants, then a 0.79 ERA at Triple-A Columbus in Cleveland's system. In 79 games over six seasons with Toronto, he posted a 4.35 ERA. ⚾
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is back to work in the Dominican Republic after a career-worst full season (.688 OPS, 9 HR). He's training with Claudia Gomez, plans to work with his father and uncle Wilton, and had laser eye surgery. Offseason rebuild underway. 🔧
Vladdy Jr. managed just nine homers and 57 RBIs in 2026, so a 2027 rebound is the goal. Vladimir Guerrero Sr. reportedly plans to work more closely with him and Wilton Guerrero on his hitting, a possible assist alongside the laser eye surgery. 🎯
Seiya Suzuki looks like a natural free-agent target for the Blue Jays: a star outfielder with 30-homer potential and strong defense. Toronto ranked last in runs (648) and homers (152) in 2026, so the fit is obvious on paper. 🎯
Toronto used a franchise-record 40 pitchers in 2026, so depth matters. Four internal arms, led by reliever Jose Rodriguez, plus bat Sean Keys could help in 2027. Rodriguez's 4.2 scoreless September innings make him the likeliest to start in Toronto. ⚾
Outfielder Rhylan Thomas, 26, elected free agency on Nov. 2 and is now free to sign anywhere. Toronto signed him to a minor league deal on June 15 after Houston released him, and he never appeared in a game for the Blue Jays at the MLB level. 🧳
Aaron Parker is mashing in the Arizona Fall League, hitting .357/.481/.524 with a 451-foot homer, while learning left field on the fly. Before this year, he'd never played outfield. The Jays prospect also earned a Fall Stars Game berth. 🚀
RHP CJ Van Eyk, 28, has elected free agency after clearing outright waivers and being assigned to Triple-A. Toronto also declined Myles Straw's 2027 club option as the offseason roster cleanup begins. 🧹
Blue Jays RHP Jake Bloss (No. 11 prospect) is listed among the Arizona Fall League's Fall Stars Game participants. The prospect showcase is Sunday at 8 p.m. ET at Salt River Fields, on MLB Network. Fall ball gets a Toronto cameo. ⚾
Michael King declined his 2027 player option, and SI's Scott Roche calls the Blue Jays a "perfect" fit. King went 12-10 with a 3.21 ERA over 185 innings for the Padres. Speculation only, but he'd slot near the top of Toronto's rotation. ⚾
It’s a single-issue negotiation. MLB wants a cap, the players reject a cap. All of the details MLB has shared about its vision -- a number of which are good! -- are tied to the MLBPA accepting a cap system. Publicly, at least, the league has not put forth any vision of a non-capped league. The players, and again I’ll say this is based on what we know, appear to have no intention of accepting a payroll cap. Until one side or the other concedes on this point, there is nowhere for negotiations...
Blue Jays could raid the AL for free agents, with the CBA set to expire Dec. 1. Early fits: Mark Leiter Jr. (A's), Trevor Rogers (Orioles) and Sonny Gray (Red Sox). Weakening rivals while improving the roster is the pitch. 🎯
Braves utility man Mauricio Dubon is reportedly a potential Blue Jays offseason target. A three-time Gold Glove winner who hit .276 with 10 HR and 73 RBI in 2026, he'd bring Clement/Smith-style versatility on a projected two-year, $16M deal. 🧰
Blue Jays added right-hander Feremi Suriel on a minor league deal, a low-profile depth move with no terms disclosed. Developmental arm, not a roster-spot contender. The offseason's real action is still ahead for a 79-83 club. 🧱
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the Blue Jays' biggest 2027 question after a career-worst 2026: .260/.332/.356 with nine homers in 609 plate appearances. After a hot April, his timing slipped, and the case for a rebound starts there. 🕺
Former Blue Jays starter Matt Shoemaker just pitched his way onto the Saline Area Schools Board of Education in Michigan. He took the third of three seats by 28 votes over Afifa Corrigan, 6,598 to 6,570, pending the official canvass. 🗳️
David Bell is out as Blue Jays assistant GM and VP of baseball operations after two seasons, per Ken Rosenthal. He helped oversee acquisitions and player development, and Toronto will look for someone to take over his duties. 🔍
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins is reportedly linked to Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan and Brewers reliever Trevor Megill as trade targets. Kwan could fill the hole in center field, while Megill could help replace Jeff Hoffman in the bullpen. 🎯
Daz Cameron has elected free agency from the Blue Jays organization and is now free to sign with any MLB team. The six-year MLB veteran departs after Toronto missed the 2026 playoffs, a year removed from its Game 7 World Series run. 👋
