Braves reportedly signed Vidal Bruján to a minor league deal, and he'll compete for a bench job this spring. It also reads as shortstop insurance if Mauricio Dubon (2.7 bWAR in 153 games last year) walks. Bruján is a depth piece, not a Dubon replacement. 🧩
Isaiah Drake had a Halloween treat in the AFL: 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and his first Arizona Fall League homer (403 feet, 102.4 mph) in Glendale's 9-8 win over Peoria. Logan Samuels picked up the win in relief. 🎃
Braves reunite with infielder Vidal Bruján on a minor league deal, sending him to Triple-A Gwinnett as depth. The 28-year-old hit .197/.266/.272 over 271 big league games, but he could vie for a utility bench role in camp. 🔄
Braves prospect Patrick Clohisy, MLB.com's No. 16 Atlanta prospect, is drawing Chandler Simpson comparisons: both clock 31 feet per second. Clohisy hit .290/.372/.457 with 62 steals in 112 games, and his upside may be higher. 🏃
Dale Murphy's personal news is a business update: his new website, dalemurphy.com, is live. Fans can book him for events, get MVP Experience tickets at Truist Park, browse his Braves career, and shop merch. Quietly, the Braves legend is still on the clock. ⏱️
The Braves signed switch-hitting utility man Vidal Bruján to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 28-year-old, who played for Atlanta in 2025, offers infield and outfield depth. He hit .278/.385/.421 at Triple-A Syracuse this year. 🔄
Lefty Martín Pérez elected free agency, per MLB.com on Oct. 29, so the Braves pitcher can sign with any club this winter. The move comes after Atlanta's NLDS exit to the Dodgers. Rotation depth just got a new line item. ⚾
Braves exercised their 2027 options on Ronald Acuña Jr. ($17M) and Ozzie Albies ($7M). Acuña hit .255 with 20 HR in 107 games, hamstring-limited; Albies played all 162. Familiar core, with a bounce-back bet on Acuña. 🔄
Battery Power: Report: Former Astros general manager Dana Brown returns to Braves
Braves shortstop remains a need: Dubon is a free agent and Ha-Seong Kim was hurt and struggled. One writer argues Atlanta should pursue Marlins All-Star Otto Lopez (.305, .786 OPS), who Miami would reportedly listen on for a big offer. 🔍
Braves re-signed utilityman Vidal Bruján to a minor league deal, adding depth at multiple spots. He's played second, short, third and all three outfield positions, though his career 53 wRC+ is modest. Atlanta entered the offseason thin up the middle. 🔧
Kaima Taira has been posted by the Seibu Lions, and one take argues the Braves should pursue him aggressively. The power righty posted a 1.36 ERA in 22 starts and touched 100 mph, though some teams may see him as a reliever. 🎯
Former Braves All-Star Michael Soroka declined his $10M 2027 option with Arizona and hits free agency after a 9-5, 3.41 ERA season. He joins several Braves, including Raisel Iglesias and Ha-Seong Kim, testing the market after the NLDS exit. 🔍
Braves brought back Vidal Bruján on a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. The infielder hit .268 in 23 games for Atlanta in 2025, and he left the Mets after nine games this year. Familiar face, low-risk depth. 🔄
Carlos Carrasco's 2026 Braves season: 8 relief outings, 16.2 IP, 5.94 ERA. He ate innings and shielded the bullpen until a five-run implosion in a 10-9 loss to the Mets. He then left for the KBO, and a minor league deal in 2027 is possible. 🧢
Braves prospects Tate Southisene (No. 3) and Isaiah Drake (No. 29) are Arizona Fall League Statcast standouts: Southisene's 95.5 mph average exit velocity ranks top five, while Drake owns the league's top sprint speed (31.1 ft/sec). Drake has more to prove. ⚡
Rule 5 season is coming for Atlanta: 25 Braves prospects are eligible, and David McCabe, Davis Polo and Drue Hackenberg stand out as likeliest losses. Unless they land 40-man spots by mid-November, rival clubs can scoop them up. 📋
Brewers-style offense, Braves edition: the 2026 champs won on walks and on-base skills, not homers. The piece floats free agents like Jake Bauers (16.3% walk rate) and Seiya Suzuki, a pitch-count grinder, as ways to fix Atlanta's on-base problem. 🧱
Free-agent lefty Kris Bubic is pitched as a prototypical Alex Anthopoulos one-year target. The 29-year-old, a 2025 All-Star, was hurt in 2026 and finished in the Dodgers' bullpen. He could be a cheap rotation upside play, though nothing is official. 🎯
Ex-Braves All-Star catcher Travis d'Arnaud elected free agency after hitting .158 in 32 games for the Angels in 2026. He made the 2022 All-Star team in Atlanta, but this winter he's a veteran backstop on the open market. 🧢
