Buster Olney reports the Mariners are poking around to see how their pitching surplus could land a bat, after a 28th-ranked offense in runs per game. Serious trade talks likely wait until a new CBA is settled. Depth: Gilbert, Woo, Kirby, Hancock. 🔄
Steamer projects Kade Anderson for a 3.28 ERA over 24 starts in 2027, better than Gilbert (3.44), Woo (3.52) and Kirby (3.71). He keeps rookie status, so a Rookie of the Year run is in play. 🔭
MLB Trade Rumors' one panelist to peg the Mariners for either player, Anthony Franco, picks Seiya Suzuki (projected 4 years, $105M) over Randy Arozarena (4 years, $100M). Arozarena reportedly wants the East Coast, and draft-pick compensation could tilt things. 🤔
Mariners have hired Jason Kanzler as their new manager. He was Houston's hitting coach in 2022 and 2023, and he was drafted in the 20th round in 2013 and played a few minor-league seasons. Seattle's dugout gets a fresh, lesser-known voice. 🧢
Speculation only: an SB Nation analyst projects the Mariners signing free agent Seiya Suzuki to a four-year, $104M deal. Suzuki hit 26 homers with an .841 OPS in 2026, and Seattle's lineup could use the help. No contact has been reported. 🔎
MLB Trade Rumors projects J.P. Crawford at two years, $16 million in free agency, and that price could justify a Mariners reunion. Defense has slipped, but his clubhouse-leader status and stated preference to return keep the door open. 🚪
Arkansas finished 71-67 in third place after a second-half slide, but Kade Anderson's 1.06 ERA and 135 K's in 93.1 innings led the way. Ryan Sloan and Lazaro Montes also starred, and the Travs look loaded for 2027. 🔥
Mariners are reportedly set to hire Jason Kanzler, the Cubs' director of player development, as manager, per Ken Rosenthal. Dan Wilson is out after an underwhelming 2026 season. Kanzler, 36, has no big league managing experience. 🧢
The Mariners are reportedly set to hire Jason Kanzler as manager, replacing Dan Wilson, per MLB.com's Daniel Kramer. The 36-year-old Cubs player development director would be a first-time skipper and the league's second-youngest. 🧢
Mariners offseason is moving: Randy Arozarena got a qualifying offer, Andrés Muñoz's option was exercised, and Robles and Bryce Miller were declined. Claims of Toglia, McCray and Mattson add depth, and Cole Young won a Gold Glove. 🧤
Boston Smith, who came from the White Sox in the Luis Castillo deadline deal, is struggling in the Arizona Fall League. That puts a shadow over a return that already looked thin, since Taylor Ward and Seranthony Domínguez didn't pan out either. 🍂
Cole Young won his first career Gold Glove at second base, crediting an offseason of conditioning, hands work and Perry Hill's "six Fs." His 17 DRS led AL second basemen. Discipline pays off. 🧤
Randy Arozarena received the Mariners' $23.15M qualifying offer, but he's expected to decline it. Projections peg his next deal near $124M over five years, and he reportedly prefers the East Coast, so a Seattle return looks unlikely. 👋
Mariners claimed righty Isaac Mattson off waivers from Pittsburgh while trimming the 40-man. He has one option left and a fastball with real shape, but his 2026 ERA jumped to 5.35 with 18 walks in 38.2 innings. Depth piece, not a fix. ⚾
MLB Trade Rumors (Mariners): Mariners Outright Five Players
Mariners tendered Randy Arozarena a qualifying offer: one year, $23.15 million for 2027. He has until Nov. 17 to decide, after a career-best 148 OPS+ and 5.5 fWAR in his walk year. Walk-year leverage, used well. 📈
Mariners claimed RHP Isaac Mattson (Pirates) and OF Grant McCray (Giants) before free agency opens. Mattson brings a 93-96 mph fastball he throws 70%+ of the time; McCray offers speed and an arm but strikes out nearly 40%. Both have options for 2027.
Transaction Alert: Seattle Mariners claimed RHP Isaac Mattson off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. 📋
ESPN's Buster Olney and Jesse Rogers tease an offseason "splash" for the Mariners, but caveats apply. Coming off a 76-86 year, the club has rarely gone big in free agency under Stanton and Dipoto, and Dipoto's big trades tend to come in summer. 🧂
Mariners are reportedly "poking around" the trade market, per ESPN's Buster Olney, to see if their pitching surplus could land a bat. A likely Dec. 1 lockout adds pressure for an offense that regressed badly. Nothing's done. 🔍
