Tigers finalized A.J. Hinch's 2027 staff: Kyle Hudson (first base/baserunning), Martín Maldonado (quality coach), Ryan Sienko (catching/bullpen). Scott Peters is medical director, Jeremiah Randall head trainer. A 76-86 finish invites a fresh look. 🔧
Lefty Win Scott, an Atlantic League find from High Point, has climbed fast: 1.40 ERA in Lakeland, 1.93 at West Michigan. The Arizona Fall League has been rougher (8.71 ERA, 10 1/3 IP), but Double-A in 2027 looks next. Scott Harris' indie-ball mining continues. ⛏️
MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams predicts the Tigers could sign free-agent Luis Arraez to a three-year, $48M deal. The three-time batting champ would add a table-setting bat, though it's only a prediction, not a reported agreement. 🎯
Tigers could pursue Teruaki Sato, the 27-year-old Triple Crown winner now in the posting system. He hit .306 with 39 homers and 106 RBIs for Hanshin, which is power Detroit's lineup could use after a 76-86 year. Expect heavy spending competition. 💰
Beau Ankeney, a 14th-round pick from 2025, mashed 24 homers in 2026, including 9 in 27 games at High-A Whitecaps after a late-July promotion. A 114.4 mph max exit velo earned a 65 raw power grade. Age and chase risk linger, but the bat is real. 💪
Sports Illustrated's Will Laws predicts the Tigers will reunite with Casey Mize on a two-year, $42M deal this offseason. Just a prediction, but Detroit needs pitching after dealing him at the deadline, and Mize was strong in Detroit before the trade to San Diego. 🔄
Kevin McGonigle added Tiger of the Year from the Detroit BBWAA, taking 21 of 23 first-place votes and becoming the first rookie to win since Riley Greene in 2022. Ex-Tiger Akil Baddoo landed with the Pirates on a waiver claim. 🏆
A.J. Hinch says he once made Justin Verlander redo a spring training PFP rep, a lesson from his dad: "It's not a punishment. It's a standard." Even a future Hall of Famer gets reset in Hinch's camp. ⚾
Tigers' 2027 outlook looks sturdy: McGonigle, Clark, Dingler, Melton and Montero anchor the core, with Anderson and Lee eyeing second base after Torres' exit. The real need is the bullpen, with Kenley Jansen gone. 🔧
A.J. Hinch says the Tigers will "build around" Kevin McGonigle after the 22-year-old rookie won 2026 Tiger of the Year. He's just the third rookie to take the award, and Hinch wants more players with his approach after a 76-86 season. 🐯
Per ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, the Tigers are among seven teams expected to chase free agent Tarik Skubal, but they're reportedly waiting on a discount. With Skubal reportedly seeking around $350 million, that looks like a losing game for Detroit. 🎯
Tigers have released 18-year-old outfielder Angel Roso, per the MiLB transactions log. The Venezuelan signee never left the Dominican Summer League, hitting .175 over 51 games. Plenty of walks, little power, and a routine roster cleanup. 📋
Kevin McGonigle beat ESPN's boldest Tigers prediction: .806 OPS and 7.1 bWAR (5.4 fWAR) vs. the forecast .825 and 5.0. He hit .278 with 18 HR in 156 games and is an AL Rookie of the Year finalist, with the winner announced Monday. 🏆
The Tigers released 18-year-old Venezuelan outfielder Angel Roso on Nov. 3, per MiLB.com's transactions log. Signed in January 2025, the lefty spent his time in the organization at the DSL level. Minor offseason housekeeping, nothing more. 🧹
Three Tigers are 2026 Silver Slugger finalists: rookie shortstop Kevin McGonigle, catcher Dillon Dingler (27 HR, 91 RBI) and outfielder Riley Greene. McGonigle shares a field with Bobby Witt Jr. Winners are announced Nov. 17. 🥈
Tigers prospect review, #21-30: Eduardo Valencia's stock is up after a .341, 8-homer debut over 42 games and better catching. Ty Madden's 3.26 ERA was a comeback win. Strong, Rodriguez and Pacheco trend down. 📉
Gleyber Torres is predicted by Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly to leave Detroit for the Texas Rangers on a one-year, $12 million deal with a $15 million mutual option for 2028. It's a prediction, not a done deal, but the Tigers' second base spot could be in flux. 🔍
Dingler, Greene and McGonigle are all 2026 Silver Slugger finalists, a trio Detroit should consider building around. McGonigle is already locked into an eight-year, $150M deal, while extending Greene two years from free agency is trickier. 🐅
Tigers land three Silver Slugger finalists: Kevin McGonigle is up in two categories, while Dillon Dingler is nominated at catcher after tying for the AL lead among backstops with 27 homers. Riley Greene also earns a nod. Winners are announced Nov. 17. 🏅
Bleacher Report floated Luis Arraez and Raisel Iglesias as possible Tigers free-agent fits. Arraez would crowd a packed infield and block Hao-Yu Lee and Max Anderson. Iglesias, an All-Star at 2.55 ERA, is the one that actually makes sense. 🎯
