White Sox prospect Caleb Bonemer (No. 27 on MLB Pipeline's Top 100) was named an AL Fall Stars selection but won't play in Sunday's AFL showcase after an early exit from Fall League play. Last year's game featured Hagen Smith and Sam Antonacci, now big leaguers.
Offseason replay: Munetaka Murakami's five best swings include his first big league homer on Opening Day, a 431-foot grand slam at Athletics, and a two-homer game vs. the Cubs. Property damage, itemized. 💥
Noah Schultz's rookie year ended with a 5.57 ERA and a June lost to knee tendonitis. The White Sox still value the lefty's ceiling, but his 2027 role is open: rotation spot, or bulk relief behind an opener or piggybacking with another starter, as they often did in 2026.
Free agent rankings are out, and the contract projections are what matter for the White Sox. Michael King's projections run roughly $79.5M-$100M, near past Sox offers like Wheeler's $125M. Any of them would set a franchise record for guaranteed money. 💰
Daniel Wright, a 6'9" righty reliever, debuts at No. 97 on the South Side Sox Top 100. The 2025 10th-rounder posted a 2.98 ERA over 42 1/3 IP in his first full pro season, plus a one-game Triple-A win. Birmingham likely awaits in 2027. 📈
Brooks Baldwin is cleared for on-field work in 2027 after finishing rehab from April's internal brace surgery on his right elbow. The super utility man also expects his first child around Christmas. Busy offseason, with the glove and the diaper bag. 👶
Nov. 4 in White Sox history: Al Lopez resigned in 1965 after the best three-season stretch in franchise history, Lefty Williams died in 1959, and Tim Anderson was released in 2023. Skeeter Webb's birthday adds a -2.5 WAR footnote. 📜
White Sox could chase value over stars this winter, since Reinsdorf's payroll history makes top names unlikely. Taylor Ward, coming off a .125 finish with Seattle, is floated as a one-year prove-it option to fill Randal Grichuk's role. 💰
Ethan Katz, the White Sox pitching coach from 2021-25, is reportedly headed to Colorado as the Rockies' new pitching coach. After a stint as Houston's assistant, he takes on MLB's toughest pitching job. Zach Bove now leads the Sox staff. ⛰️
Sox Machine's offseason blueprint: tender Vargas, Doyle, Bart and Brazobán, pass on Leasure and Murphy, and offer Fedde a 1-year deal. The splashy idea is a hypothetical mega-offer to Tarik Skubal, which the writer concedes is unlikely. 🧊
A fan-written White Sox offseason plan would tender Vargas, Doyle, Brazobán, Leasure and Murphy, but non-tender Bart in hopes of finding a cheaper veteran catcher. Its premise: keep the core intact, add talent, and hope 2027 brings progress, not regression.
White Sox hit 211 homers (5th in MLB) but scored 776 runs; champion Milwaukee hit 154 and scored 832 with more walks, steals and contact. The 2027 lesson: keep the power, but build an offense that sustains rallies when the long ball disappears. ⚾
White Sox target Trevor Rogers got a qualifying offer from the Orioles, so signing the lefty would cost Chicago its second-highest 2027 draft pick. He fits a rotation light on proven lefties, but the price tag just got steeper. 💰
With the Nov. 17 non-tender deadline looming, the White Sox could shop Andrew Benintendi or Luisangel Acuna to open roster spots. Benintendi's $15.1M for 2027 makes him hard to move unless Chicago eats most of it, and any return would likely be minor. 💸
Colby Shelton was named Arizona Fall League Hitter of the Week after going 6-for-13 with 12 RBIs, including a grand slam. He's slashing .277/.379/.511 with 3 HR and 17 RBIs for Glendale (7-15). 💥 Bonemer wrapped his stint with a .996 OPS.
Former White Sox slugger Luis Robert Jr. is headed to free agency after the Orioles declined his option. Chicago already moved him to the Mets for Luisangel Acuna. Speculation links him to the Phillies, Rays and Astros, all hoping to revive his 2023 form. 🔍
Abraham Núñez lands at No. 98 on South Side Sox's Top 100 after a rebound at Low-A Kannapolis (.270/.356/.395, 17-of-27 SB). Injuries limited him to 63 games again, and a 2027 jump to Winston-Salem looks like a make-or-break test. 🩹
A Sox Machine offseason blueprint (a fan's plan, not news of actual moves) would tender Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán and non-tender Bart, Leasure and Murphy. It also pitches Seiya Suzuki in RF and AJ Minter as Grant Taylor's setup man, with Hagen Smith moving to the rotation. 📝
A Sox Machine offseason plan preaches "keep it simple": skip small-dollar signings, let the kids play (Braden Montgomery in right) and spend elsewhere. It proposes a consolidation trade for a top-of-rotation arm, plus a need to shed $6.25 million in salary. 📋
Historically, November 3 has been busy for the White Sox. In 1959 they swapped Ron Jackson for Frank Baumann, who led the AL in ERA in 1960. In 1903 the Giants gave up the George Davis fight, and in 2003 Ozzie Guillén was named manager. 🗓️
