A Sox Machine reader's offseason blueprint calls for tendering Miguel Vargas and Brenton Doyle, and non-tendering Joey Bart, Huascar Brazobán, Jordan Leasure and Chris Murphy. The priorities are rotation help, right-handed power, and fewer strikeouts. 📝
The White Sox are floated as a possible fit for free-agent ace Tarik Skubal, per The Athletic's Jim Bowden, who lists them alongside the Mets and Dodgers. It's speculation, and a deal would hinge on Jerry Reinsdorf approving a record-setting contract. 💰
John Scriffen's run as White Sox lead play-by-play voice ends after three seasons, as the team won't renew his contract. Fan pushback over "manufactured enthusiasm" and skipping the playoff-clinching game for a UFC event didn't help. Never boring, though. 🎙️
Shane Drohan, a Rule 5 pick by the White Sox in 2024, couldn't close out Game 4 for the Brewers. Milwaukee's World Series sweep bid died in the 12th, so the 2005 White Sox keep their 11-1 postseason mark to themselves. Nice try, Milwaukee. 🔒
Jim Bowden's top-40 free agent list links the White Sox to several arms. Verdicts so far: Tarik Skubal is a "target, but they won't" given payroll and market size, while Freddy Peralta could be the preferred big-spend option. 🎯
Off the field, the 2026 playoff-bound White Sox were just as entertaining. Munetaka Murakami's clubhouse bidet request became a team celebration staple and an international story, and the Pope Hat giveaway drew major recognition. 🚽
Chase Meidroth's glove is getting a victory lap, with a Gold Glove potentially in play. Highlights include a diving stop on Nick Kurtz, a running catch that sealed a 2-1 win over Atlanta, and a diving final out in a 22-1 rout of Kansas City. 🧤
The Brewers' 12-inning, 4-3 loss to the Rays in World Series Game 4 kept them from matching the 11-1 postseason mark shared by the 2005 White Sox and 1999 Yankees. That 2005 run still stands as one of only two 11-1 finishes in the wild-card era. 🔒
Sox Machine's offseason plan is fan speculation, not reported moves. It imagines a new regime under Getz spending on Kaima Taira, Walker Buehler and others, trading for Rafael Devers, and tendering Vargas and Doyle. Pure blueprint. 📝
Sox Machine's offseason blueprint, written as if the author owned the club, treats 2026 as a fun surprise worth extending. It targets pitching as the clear need, tenders Vargas, Doyle, Brazobán and Murphy, non-tenders Bart and Leasure, and eyes ~$57M of 2028 flexibility.
Sox Machine's Rideout offseason plan, "The Jerry Special," tenders Vargas, Doyle, Bart and Brazobán, non-tenders Leasure and Murphy, and lets Grichuk, Newcomb and Fedde walk. It also floats DFAing Benintendi and eating his $15M. 📋
Sox Machine's offseason fantasy blueprint imagines Justin Ishbia's money fueling a spending push. It floats tendering Vargas, Doyle, Bart and Brazobán, and signing Fedde, Freddy Peralta (5 years, $135M) and Alec Bohm. All speculation, not reported moves. 💰
White Sox could target rotation help by trade before the lockout, with Angels lefty Reid Detmers and Rays lefty Shane McClanahan floated as candidates. It's speculation, not a done deal: Detmers posted a 3.36 ERA over 185 innings and has two years left on his contract.
The White Sox won't renew play-by-play voice John Schriffen after three polarizing years and will launch a national search. Speculative replacement candidates include Bulls announcer Adam Amin and ex-ESPN host Karl Ravech, who MLB.com's Scott Merkin says could be in the mix.
A Sox Machine offseason fantasy, not a real move: the pitch would build a Japanese-heavy roster around Murakami, adding Suzuki, Itoh, Imai, Taira, Matsui and Rikuu Nishida for seven. It runs slightly over a $130M target. 🎌
This is a Sox Machine reader's speculative offseason plan, not an actual move by GM Chris Getz. It proposes tendering Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, non-tendering Bart, Leasure and Murphy, and pursuing free agents like Seiya Suzuki. 🧾
Sox Machine's Treveburg offseason plan is a fan proposal, not news: tender Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, non-tender Bart, Leasure and Murphy, and pitch a Peralta deal plus a Murakami extension. It also floats a Carlson-for-Wacha swap. 🧩
A fan-built offseason blueprint on Sox Machine treats the White Sox as a young team that overachieved. It targets two starters, a right-handed outfielder, a late-inning arm and a catcher. Proposed moves include tendering Vargas and Doyle, non-tendering Bart, and chasing Peralta and Sato in free agency. 🧩
Caleb Bonemer, the Sox's No. 2 prospect, hit 37 homers with a .930 OPS across High-A and Double-A in 2026, then added a 1.013 OPS in the Fall League. A crowded infield means outfield reps could be his 2027 path. 🔥
White Sox are moving on from broadcaster John Schriffen, who arrived in 2024 vowing to be "all in" on Sox summers. He then drew criticism for missed broadcasts, including the Sept. 24 postseason clincher. Bad timing, loud approach, quiet exit. 🎙️
