Shelley Duncan, who managed the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate for four seasons, is reportedly joining Boston's major league staff under Chad Tracy. An insider says he saw no path to managing the Yankees with Aaron Boone retained for 2027. Rival intel, acquired. 😬
Dax Kilby, the Yankees' No. 1 prospect, is hitting .295/.357/.623 in 15 Arizona Fall League games, with 12 of 18 hits going for extra bases. At 19, nearly three years younger than the average hitter there, he has teammates marveling at his maturity. 🔥
Shelley Duncan is leaving the Yankees' farm system to join the Red Sox's major league staff. The RailRiders skipper won 2025 International League Manager of the Year and helped develop Ben Rice and Cam Schlittler. His Boston role is still undetermined. 📋
Outfielder Yanquiel Fernández, 23, elected free agency from the Yankees' organization. He never appeared in a game for New York, but hit .258 with 27 homers and 87 RBIs in 126 Triple-A games. Plenty of suitors likely, none wearing pinstripes. ⚾
Shelley Duncan, who managed Yankees Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the past four seasons, is reportedly joining Chad Tracy's Red Sox big league staff. The 2025 International Manager of the Year is headed to the rival. 🔄
Shelley Duncan, the Yankees' Triple-A manager, is reportedly joining Chad Tracy's Red Sox staff. The loss stings because Duncan could have been groomed as a successor to Aaron Boone, whose coaching staff is staying the same for 2027. 🔍
Michael King declined his 2027 option with the Padres and is heading to free agency. The Yankees have reportedly kept tabs on him, but one SI writer predicts a fit with AL East rival Toronto, where he could slot atop the rotation. 👀
David Bednar has until Nov. 17 to answer the Yankees' $23.15M qualifying offer. After a 2.47 ERA and 35 saves, a short extension, perhaps $15M-$18M a year, could be the smartest route, avoiding long-term risk on a 33-year-old closer. 🔒
One MLB writer says the Yankees' shaky bullpen could look to Dodgers lefty Alex Vesia in free agency, especially with Adrian Morejon getting a Padres qualifying offer. Vesia's 2026 line: 2.64 ERA, 74 Ks in 58 innings. 🎯
Yankees are reportedly "thinking about" a push for Tarik Skubal, per ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, and would try to trade from their pitching "stockpile" to do it. Schlittler, Fried, Skubal, Rodón and Cole would be a rotation nightmare. 🔥
Yankees pitcher Adam Kloffenstein, 26, elected free agency on November 2 and can now sign with any MLB team. The right-hander's exit from the organization comes just weeks after New York's ALDS loss to Tampa Bay. 📤
It’s a single-issue negotiation. MLB wants a cap, the players reject a cap. All of the details MLB has shared about its vision -- a number of which are good! -- are tied to the MLBPA accepting a cap system. Publicly, at least, the league has not put forth any vision of a non-capped league. The players, and again I’ll say this is based on what we know, appear to have no intention of accepting a payroll cap. Until one side or the other concedes on this point, there is nowhere for negotiations...
A proposed Yankees idea: Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, a two-time Silver Slugger, could be a fit as Arizona looks to shake things up. He'd reportedly be available, and could slot in at second with Volpe moving to third. 🔄
Brewers manager Pat Murphy called Brian Cashman to apologize for his World Series remarks about the Yankees, saying he wasn't calling the 2026 club selfish. Some fans find the apology more irritating than the jab. Bold take: a sorry nobody asked for. 😬
Yankees are linked to Rangers shortstop Corey Seager, who Texas reportedly will shop this winter. Nothing is close: Seager has a full no-trade clause and a $325M deal, so this is only speculation. A bat next to Judge would be quite the pairing. 🔍
Joel Sherman floated Diamondbacks outfielder Jordan Lawlar, 24, as a possible buy-low trade target for the Yankees. He hit .258/.319/.460 in 48 games this season, but injuries have limited him to 86 career games. Nothing is imminent. 🔍
Spencer Jones' steep, 44-degree swing path (second only to Riley Greene) drives his all-or-nothing profile. He posted a 113 wRC+ over his final 55 games of 2026, and 2027 looks wide open for him. 🎯
Outfielder Duke Ellis, 28, elected free agency from the Yankees organization this week. He didn't appear in an MLB game this year but swiped 60 bases in 99 Triple-A games. Speed to burn, now on the open market. 🏃
Former Yankees infielder Tyler Austin is a free agent again, per Baseball America. He never played in 2026 with the Cubs after offseason knee surgery. His Yankees run: 85 games, 15 homers, and one memorable mound charge at Fenway in 2018.
Yankees' ALDS loss to the Rays exposed an offense that leaned on Ben Rice while Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm Jr. cratered. Tampa scored just 3.3 runs per game in three wins, enough to beat a rotation that had to be perfect. 🔒
