Giants quietly purchased the contract of right-hander Spencer Bauer from the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association. The ex-Elon and UCF arm, who trained at Tread Athletics, gets his first stint in affiliated ball after a velocity bump. 📈
Darren Baker, son of Dusty Baker, is among several Giants minor leaguers who elected free agency, including R.J. Dabovich. Baker, who posted a .504 OPS late in 2026, could return on another minor league deal. 🔄
The 2026 Giants season had more lulls than wins, but the long-ball reel is a keeper. A Statcast-ranked compilation of the year's best home runs is out, proof the dingers showed up even when the standings didn't. 💥
A predicted offseason plan has Buster Posey rebuilding Giants pitching through free agency, with Kevin Gausman (two years, $50M) and Shota Imanaga (two years, $38M) projected as targets. A closer is also on the wish list, with Kenley Jansen floated. 🧢
Caleb Kilian's 2026 went from non-roster invitee to Opening Day roster, with a 0.64 ERA through April. Then came closer-by-committee duty, a May 29 collapse at Coors Field, and a deadline trade to Philadelphia. Strong start, rough ninth. ⚾

Giants are floated as a possible landing spot for Astros closer Josh Hader, a speculative fit after a 65-97 season and a bullpen that blew 27 saves. Hader posted a 1.01 ERA with 26 saves in 2026. Any deal would hinge on Houston. 🔒
Hunter Mense is leaving after one season as Giants hitting coach to become an assistant hitting coach for the Royals, per sources. That leaves Oscar Bernard as the lone hitting coach for now, and Tony Vitello's staff has a vacancy to fill. 🧢
Hunter Mense is out as Giants hitting coach, headed to the Royals as an assistant hitting coach, after a 65-97 season. Replacement ideas include Richmond hitting coach Tommy Everidge, a Santa Rosa native, as the Giants look to fix an offense that couldn't draw walks. 🔄

Five Giants hit free agency: Osleivis Basabe, Joel Kuhnel, Andrew Knizner, Matt Gage and Will Brennan. The first four cleared waivers first. Basabe posted a .609 OPS and Gage a 5.60 ERA, so the roster purge didn't cost much star power. 🧹
Giants cleared out six Dominican Summer League players, per the MiLB transaction log: four from DSL Orange, two from DSL Black. Shortstops Juan Colorado and Jeyson Moya headline a group that never advanced past the Rookie-level complex. 🧹
Giants trimmed the 40-man down to six arbitration-eligible players: Schmitt, Rodríguez, Doval, Walker, Hentges and Wick. Schmitt and Rodríguez look like easy tenders, while Doval, Walker, Hentges and Wick are the tougher calls. ⚖️
Former Giants are well represented on the open market. Luis Arráez ranks highest, No. 11 at Fangraphs and No. 12 at ESPN, though his post-trade slump (82 wRC+ with the Phillies) hurt his value. Gausman and Mahle follow. 📋
Tristan Beck is headed to KBO's LG Twins on a one-year, $878K guaranteed deal, days after the Giants released him in their 40-man roster cleanup. The right-hander will likely start overseas. A clean exit after four seasons of low-leverage relief. ✈️
Buddy Kennedy's 2026 Giants run felt like a psyop: he hit .321/.424/.543 for Sacramento but managed just 4 hits in 38 plate appearances over 20 games with SF. The Giants let him go in late August, and the Nationals claimed him. 🕵️
