Brewers won the World Series, so the offseason clock starts. Free agency opens November 2nd, with a Rule-5 roster deadline of November 17th and a tender deadline of November 20th, before a possible December 1st owner-imposed lockout freezes baseball. ⏳
Parker Messick, the AL Central champions' rookie starter, is a contender for AL Rookie of the Year and Cy Young. He posted a 2.56 ERA with 193 strikeouts in 186 1/3 innings. Finalists are announced Monday. 🏆
Guardians could shake up roles in 2027: Cooper Ingle may get a shot at backup catcher if Austin Hedges leaves, and Slade Cecconi could move to the bullpen for good after a 5.93 ERA in relief. Steven Kwan is also floated for a new role. 🔄
Guardians face a real offseason call on Tanner Bibee after he made just one postseason appearance. Vogt says Bibee will be "a huge part of this team for a long time," and Chernoff sees no "massive overhaul" needed. Actions and words are still negotiating. 🤔
Aaron Ashby's 18 straight scoreless postseason innings broke the record Andrew Miller set in the 2016 World Series, when Miller and the Guardians fell short of the MVP. Ashby is now a leading Brewers MVP candidate if he pitches again tonight.
Juan Brito, Josh Hartle and Jacob Cozart are ex-Guardians prospects who could become 2027 contributors elsewhere. Brito hit .309 in 18 games for Cincinnati after Cleveland dealt him for cash. Cozart went to the Angels. Costly dividends. 👀
Junior Caminero, who homered against Cleveland in the ALCS, made his mark in Rays' World Series Game 4 win with hustle, not power. He beat out a chopper after an error, then raced to third on a single and scored the tying run. Guardians-style baserunning. 🏃
Rays' 12th-inning Game 4 World Series win, powered by a deep bench, is held up as a model for Cleveland. The Guardians' platoon-heavy approach can leave them thin late, as in the 2025 Wild Card Series loss with five late substitutions.
Jo Adell is projected by MLB Trade Rumors to earn $9.6M in his final arbitration year, so the Guardians could trade or non-tender him. He hit seven homers with a .740 OPS in 48 games after the Angels deal. Keep or cut? 🤔
Former Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz's rocky first year managing Baltimore (79-82) left a lesson: new Orioles GM Jared Banner has already called Jim Palmer, the contact Albernaz reportedly gave the cold shoulder. Quick study. 📞
Jim Bowden's offseason predictions list the White Sox as a "best team fit" for both Tarik Skubal and Freddy Peralta. A rotation upgrade there could erase the Guardians' pitching edge in the AL Central. 🎯
Jim Bowden of The Athletic predicts Shane Bieber could reunite with the Guardians on a one-year, $20M deal. It's a prediction, not a report. The price looks steep with Kwan and Adell's arbitration raises looming and Bieber's injury-shortened 2026 (4.37 ERA). 🤔
Brewers are pummeling the Rays in the World Series, a series after eliminating Cleveland. The Guardians came close and faced a Milwaukee team with ex-Cleveland players, so the "what if" stings. 🤔
Chris Antonetti says Cleveland wants rotation and bullpen upgrades. An early speculative list floats free agents like Casey Mize, Shane Bieber and Zac Gallen, plus trade ideas like Reid Detmers and Sandy Alcantara. Nothing is done, and prospect capital would be the price. 🎯
Austin Hedges is a free agent with no 2027 deal in Cleveland yet, and Stephen Vogt's past-tense praise hints he may leave. Coming off a career-best .702 OPS, he could cash in elsewhere, a loss that would sting the clubhouse more than the lineup. 🔒
Speculation says the Guardians could shake up the roster this offseason, with Jo Adell (nearly $10M in final arbitration year) and Tanner Bibee (just one postseason appearance, sat out the ALCS) floated as possible trade candidates. Nothing is confirmed. 🔍
Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby carries a 15 2/3-inning scoreless streak into World Series Game 3, chasing ex-Guardian Andrew Miller's record 16 straight scoreless innings to open a postseason, set in 2016. 🔒
Arbitration predictions: Kwan ($11.3M), Adell ($9.6M) and Cade Smith ($5.5M) are projected "sure tenders" ahead of the Nov. 20 deadline. Fry and Festa look like non-tender candidates, Cecconi is a toss-up, and Perkins is a likely goodbye. 📋
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner is reviewing the team's hitting philosophies after an ALDS sweep, exposing a split between data-driven and old-school hitters. Guardians, with far fewer resources, may be closing the gap through a unified approach. 🔍
Bibee led Cleveland in starts (33) and innings (188) but threw to just three batters in the playoffs. Vogt and Bibee had a candid 40-minute walk before Game 6, as matchup-driven lefty usage and ALDS off-days squeezed him out. 🎯
